![]() The more you can use the high (3 per crew, per day) ration the more you gain, and the easiest way of doing this without wasting resources is alternating days with the none (0 per crew, per day) ration. 0, 1 and 2 (per crew, per week) all trade steps of +/- 10 decorum against 1 condition added or removed, but 3 trades the same step against +/- 30 decorum making it vastly superior. The problem on both the food and fuel scales is the nonlinearity. Or at the very least adding 3 malnutrition instead of 2 to make it an actual threat that impacts your game. Or perhaps adding additional demoralization effects or going straight to Scurvy for cutting food completely instead of an easily manageable 2 malnutrition. Originally posted by Gentleman Bird:I feel that there needs to be additional consequences for cutting rations, maybe -15 decorum per rations cut instead of -10 so cutting rations completely is no longer an overall morale gain. Interestingly enough, that's how the winter previously worked in earlier builds of the game, but led to some other balancing issues players were rubbing up against, something that might be good to re-add/revisit for the increased difficulty modes (How to propperly handle freezing/malnutrition for this period? not sure) Problem with having it actually take 12 weeks would be that its boring gameplay, so perhaps increase the pot, and furnace four fold for the winter period, and increase consumption by the same. If you would have to have to get through the true 12 weeks it would be tight. But when the time came i still had 12 elephant seals 6 lion seals, 25+ penguins, and 8 buckets of fish left. So hoarded vast resources with min maxing, and calculated i would barely have enough food and fuel to get through it. So the game warns you "you have to survive 12 weeks of winter" which is accurate, but end of weeks rather then being a week its 4 weeks with it using 1 week of supplies. Originally posted by Mallechai:The main issue isn't that it currently is to cheap but that towards act 3-5 you suddenly have 3-4 week time skips. I feel that there needs to be additional consequences for cutting rations, maybe -15 decorum per rations cut instead of -10 so cutting rations completely is no longer an overall morale gain. ![]() ![]() Using half rations instead, followed by extra rations gives a total gain of +20 decorum, with no change in the amount of supplies used compared to just doing standard rationsĬutting fuel is also viable for decorum gain, though freezing is a bit more difficult to manage than malnutrition. ![]() Overall, cutting food and then giving extra saves 1 food per crew member and adds +10 decorum compared to just using standard rations. However, this is easily solved by giving extra food the next day, curing 2 malnutrition and adding +30 decorum. Going a day completely without food inflicts 2 Malnutrition and -20 decorum. If I recall the rooms on ship correctly, recommend the following supplies:So I've completed the game without ever coming close to running out of food, fuel, or decorum, and that's mostly because of how powerful cutting rations is. You will need to rotate people into the med bay each day between hunts to keep people going. I only did full feeding or full fuel to boost decorum. Doable, but you should anticipate running most days with partial rations and fuel. I got to the end with everyone alive, and everyone loyal. See post titled "Give a newbie 1st officer advice?". The 2 digging gear makes your dogs more efficient, and possible to scout 3 times and do 1-2 hunts depending on the game. If you let Zack keep his gun you can get an achievement at the end. If you take Zach's gun, you can get an extra food on small game, but the small game feeds so few, I often skipped them and prioritized bigger game. On my good endings run, I had maybe 8 coal, no timber, and 3 ale. I suggest prioritizing coal on ship once you are up to maybe 4 or 6 cans of food. If I recall the rooms on ship correctly, recommend the following supplies:Ī: both guns (more food per hunt on medium and large game).
